I cannot believe that it’s been a year since i hit publish on my first book. Aside from my children, putting Where We Belong out for the world to read is hands down my greatest accomplishment. But as the one year publiversary (love that word) approaches, it’s not the book that I’ll be celebrating. Nope, because there is something far greater that happened that day. Something that means so much more than publishing a book.
Frienships.
One year ago my world changed and it’s because of that change that i’ve made some of the friends that i have today … friends that I hold near and dear to my heart. No, not all of those friendships were formed a year ago … some of them nine months ago, six months ago and so on. But time doesn’t matter, not in the grand scheme of things.
I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of these friends … whether it be pizza and Lava Rocks under a cabana in Hawaii, shots at Dick’s in Dallas, sharing a hotel room at PennedCon, or ice cream with our kids … I’ve enjoyed each and every moment and some day, even if these friendships have dissipated, I’ll still hold these memories close to my heart.
For every friend that i’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person, there are another four that I haven’t. There are still friends that I hope I get to hug (tackle hugs of course) and thank in person, and when I do it’ll be more great memories to add to the ever growing book that my life is becoming.
Life is short. Friends come and go, and some stay longer than others, but true friends … the ones that care about you regardless of what you’re doing or who your are or what your name is, those friends are the ones to keep, the ones to surround yourself with.
I wish I could sit here and name off all of the wonderful people I’ve met and the friends that i’m thinking of as I’m writing this post, but there are too many to mention … so let me just say this …
Salinópolis THANK YOU.
Friendship … TRUE friendship is not something that i take lightly and for those of you that have come into my life this past year … to those friends that I have the privilege of knowing, talking with, laughing with … whatever … THANK YOU. And to those friends that I had before I ever wrote a book … to the ones that have stuck by me and supported me and cheered me on … I love you <3
CHEERS … here’s to many more moments like the ones we’ve shared.
