My life is nothing short of a crazy train, but I wouldn’t have it any other way and you certainly won’t hear me complain. I have three beautiful, and slightly crazy children, a wonderful husband, and a job that I absolutely love. But, at the end of the day when the monsters … errrr angels … are tucked into bed and my hubby is off doing his thing at the gym, I get to do one of things that I truly love to do … write. Writing has always been a big part of who I am. In school I was that nerd who loved English class. Yup, I was that girl, the one sitting in the front row, hand raised high, pissing off every other kid in my class because I wanted to learn more about poetry, propositions and punctuation.
It was in that English class when I wrote my first short story. Unfortunately, my teacher marked the paper up with endless amounts of red ink, but it was what she said that stuck with me. She dropped the paper on my desk and said “I’ve been teaching this class for over thirty years and this is hands down the best short story any student has ever turned in. You’ve got talent. Whatever you do in life, I hope it involves writing.”
Well … it didn’t involve writing, at least not right away. I went on to become a Nurse Practitioner, and don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love what I do, but something was always missing. I was a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, nurse, and volunteer … but who was I? What did I like? What made me happy? I know, it sounds cliché, but that’s how it happened. I felt lost, so I went back to one thing I always loved to do. I found a short story I had written years earlier and I slowly started to expand it into my first novel, and I’m so incredibly glad that I did because not only did I find my true passion, and self-publish my first book, but I’ve met a lot of really awesome people in the process.
Well, I’m still a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, nurse, and volunteer … but now I’ve added author to that list. Oh, and I found this awesome chick along the way … her name is KL Grayson. She’s sort of crazy, really fun and she has an addiction to chapstick that is out of this world.
Anyway, my crazy train has taken me on one hell of a journey, but it’s the path I’m on now that brings peace into my chaotic life. So find your crazy train, sit down, buckle up and enjoy the ride and if we’re lucky, maybe one day our paths will cross!
